Alejandro Brugués (Buenos Aires, 1976) studied at the San Antonio de los Baños International Film and TV School in Cuba. He was the screenwriter for several Cuban films and part of the Producciones La 5ta Avenida independent production company with which he directed Personal Belongings (2007), his debut feature. He achieved worldwide recognition for Juan of the Dead (2011), the zombie horror-comedy that became a cult film hit. Currently based in Los Angeles, he has directed productions such as ABCs of Death 2 (2014) and Nightmare Cinema (2018). He is now filming The Last Will and Testament of Charles Abernathy for Netflix.
